Beginning with Children Charter School 2

Support and Services

Beginning with Children Charter School 2 (BWCCS 2) is a nurturing community that fosters a love of learning and the development of character for students in grades K-8. Our students achieve academic excellence and are prepared to succeed in top performing high schools and colleges. BwCCS 2 students develop and use G.R.I.T. (Good Judgment, Resilience, Integrity, and Teamwork) for personal and community improvement.

Special Education

BWCCS 2 is comprised of 18% students with IEPs who learn with special and general education students in an inclusive learning environment. Special education staff are comprised of the Dean of Academics and Culture, SETSS (Special Education Teacher Support Services, and ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) Classroom Teachers, and Director of Special Needs. Our school seeks to find the least restrictive program and services for the child while maintaining high expectations for learning.

Related Services

Each year, BWCCS 2 special education students receive services from occupational, physical, and speech and language therapists from the Department of Education free of charge. Providers collaborate with school staff to meet with students during school hours and integrate these strategies into their classroom.

Social and Emotional Development

With the support of our Licensed Clinical Social Worker and emotionally intelligent staff members, students can find a nurturing environment to help develop healthy, confident, well-adjusted children across all school environments giving them skills they can carry outside of the four walls of the classroom and school.

Supporting English Language Learners

BWCCS 2 offers a free-standing ESL program with a combination of push in and pull out instruction to service the 15% of ELLs that make up our student population. With the support of over 50% bilingual staff members and our ESL teachers, BWCCS 2 is equipped to provide essential language support while preserving the diverse cultural background of our students.

Other Supports

In addition to the programs and services offered at BWCCS 2, if a child has an IEP, he or she may qualify for specialized (door-to-door) transportation, testing accommodations or modifications, assistive technology, and/or paraprofessional supports. If you have any questions about these or other supports at BWCCS 2, please contact the Director of Special Needs.
